FAQ

+ Why should I have my furnace or air conditioner tuned up?

A dirty appliance (furnace or air conditioner) will not work at optimal efficiency. The dirt will cause resistance, which can over burden the appliance and cause two things: (1) an increase in fuel/energy consumption and (2) damage to the appliance. Thus, during a start-up/clean-out, we can examine the appliance to make sure that everything is working correctly. If your appliance is cleaned annually, you will avoid any potential damage that can be very costly to you, and you will maximize the efficiency of your appliance.

+ How often should I tune up my appliance?

The industry suggestion is once a year (annually). However, much can be said about how old the appliance is, and how much it was used during the previous season. For example, the older the unit, the more imperative it is to maintain the appliance to stretch the life expectancy of the unit.

+ Why should I have my appliance tuned up by your company?

LB HEATING & AIR CONDITIONING CO. has been in business since 1972. We have a fully certified staff of technicians with both gas and refrigerant licenses. The company is $ 5 million insured in case of accident, and it has both its TSSA (i.e., Technical Safety Standards Assoc.) and Metro Heating License. We also provide live 24-hour service to cover your needs any time of the day.

+ What do you do during a furnace tune up?

We will for example:

  • Check operation of thermostat
  • Check operation of safety limit controls
  • Check blower operation
  • Clean burner ports
  • Examine vent connectors and inspect venting system
  • Check Gas pilot safety system
  • Check gas piping
+ What do you do during a boiler tune up?

We will for example:

  • Check operation of thermostat
  • Check operation of safety limit controls
  • Clean burner ports
  • Check ignition system
  • Examine vent connectors and inspect venting system
  • Check Gas pilot safety system
  • Check gas piping

BUT most importantly we disassemble the hood and clean out the heat exchanger. IF the heat exchanger is not cleaned, then only half the boiler has been cleaned. Many contractors forget to clean the heat exchanger.

+ What do you do during an air conditioning start-up?

We will for example:

  • Check operation of thermostat
  • Examine condenser unit for dirt and debris
  • Check operation of compressor
  • Check operation of electrical wiring, fuses, relay, capacitor
  • Inspect Evaporator (if possible)
  • Check pressure of refrigerant in both the liquid and suction lines
